FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Where are the courses run?
The courses are run at carefully selected venues around Herts and Beds, see the current courses being offered  for more details.

Is there car parking at Mill Green?
Yes, the mill has plenty of parking at the car park and on the quiet roads surrounding.

What time do the courses run?
Beginners DSLR: 9:30am to 4pm
Improvers DSLR: 9:30am to 4pm
Better photos with your compact camera: 9:30am to 1:30pm
Night & low light photography: Times vary according to time of year (goes without saying it will be dark!)

What do I need to bring?
Your camera with memory card and fully charged battery (you might also find it helpful to bring the instruction book for your camera but don’t worry if you don’t have it). Bring a packed lunch (see below) and be prepared to go outside, but if its freezing cold or raining we'll aim to be inside for most of the day. You might also find it useful to bring a note book and pen to take some notes.

Do you provide lunch?
It depends on the venue, some include lunch at a local pub, for others I suggest you bring your own lunch. Wherever we are, tea, coffee and an abundance of biscuits are included and will be available all day.

How many are in a group?
Groups are kept small so you learn more –  expect a maximum of eight but maybe less.

If I enjoy the course can I go on to learn more?
Yes, there are other courses to progress to, and I'm continually adding further courses to choose from.  Check out the LEARN tab for the latest information.  I also offer one to one training and will focus this to your individual needs - whatever your level (see below).

Do you offer one to one training?
Yes.  I understand that some people prefer to learn on a one to one basis; I can meet you at your home or at your chosen location in the area of Herts / Beds and tailor the training just for you (at any level!).  One to one training costs £99 for two hours or £135 for three hours, and times can be arranged at a time to suit you.  I'm happy to travel to you depending on where you are in Herts / Beds, but may have to charge more if I travel a long way.  Just email me to book this or find out more.

How do I book onto a course?
Just email me with the course you are interested in and I'll soon reply with booking confirmation and payment details. Payment is due on calendar month before the course.

I want to book on a course but its full?
Places are limited to keep groups small.  It might be worth dropping me an email so I can add you on a reserve list but can't promise anything.  If a place becomes available I'll let you know, if not, don't worry as more dates will be announced soon.

Do you offer gift vouchers?
Yes, photography training is a great gift! - these are particularly popular for Birthday presents, Christmas, and other special occasions.  Gift vouchers can be purchased for one to one camera training or for any of the one day workshops, they are valid for six months from the date of issue so you have plenty of time to find the right course or arrange the training.

What if I need to cancel?

I hope you don’t need to cancel, but if you do the following will apply: Cancellation more than one calendar month before the course – a full refund will be given minus a £20 admin fee. Within one month to seven days before – half the course fee will be refunded. Within seven days of the course, no refund will be given. In the event of extreme weather preventing participants attending (e.g. heavy snowfall making if difficult to attend), I'll apply some discretion and common sense to this!  In the unlikely event that the course has to be cancelled at any time due to unforeseen circumstances you will be offered a full refund or a place on the next available equivalent course.
